Francisco Sanchez-Bayo
Dr Sánchez -Bayo holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences and a PhD in Ecology by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. After a few post-doctoral positions in Australia, he worked as Assistant Professor at Chiba University (Japan) for five years, where he taught environmental toxicology and studied the ecological impacts of pesticides in paddy fields. Back in Australia, he was Research Associate at the Centre for Ecotoxicology of the University of Technology Sydney, worked at the Office of the Environment & Heritage NSW, and at the School of Life & Environmental Sciences, University of Sydney. Dr Sánchez-Bayo is currently chemical risk assessor at the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water in Canberra. He is author and co-author of a hundred scientific articles and book chapters on the environmental impact and risk of chemical contaminants – particularly pesticides – ecology and related subjects, as well as editor and principal author of the book “Ecological Impacts of Toxic Chemicals”. He serves as Associate Editor of the journal Entomologia Generalis, as reviewer of over 90 international journals and as expert assessor for evaluation of scientific projects in 13 countries.
